Who pays for the advice?

Current status: Standby Generator Guide currently displays no live affiliate links or advertising. Our guides are free to read, and we do not sell generators or installation leads.

Our independence commitment

Independent of generator brands, dealers, and installers. We do not accept direct sponsorships, paid rankings, editorial payments, installation-lead payments, or referral fees from them. Any future programmatic advertising is kept separate from editorial decisions and cannot buy favorable coverage.

We do not accept direct payments from generator brands, dealers, or installers for favorable editorial coverage, sponsored rankings, product placement inside editorial conclusions, or suppression of limitations. No company can pay to become our recommended option.

Programmatic advertising

If we enable a third-party advertising network such as Google AdSense, the ad network may select and serve ads based on page context, geography, consent choices, or other signals it is permitted to use. An advertiser appearing beside an article does not sponsor, review, approve, or influence that article.

Programmatic advertising revenue is kept separate from our research process. Editorial staff do not change rankings, comparisons, model coverage, safety caveats, or conclusions to satisfy an advertiser.

No referral commissions

We do not receive generator-brand, dealer, or installer referral fees. We do not sell your contact information to installers or steer your choice toward a company that pays us.

Any future funding must meet the same standard

If the way this site is funded changes, we will disclose it here and at the point where it matters to readers. Funding cannot buy editorial conclusions, remove documented limitations, or change the evidence standard used in comparisons.
